Sean Joo

Sean Joo is an associate professor of educational psychology at the University of Kansas. He earned his Ph.D. in educational measurement from the University of South Florida in 2017. Before joining KU, he worked as an associate research scientist at Educational Testing Service (ETS) and as a postdoctoral research fellow at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven) in Belgium. His research focuses on developing and applying statistical and psychometric methods to improve educational and psychological assessment. His research areas include item response theory (IRT), computerized adaptive testing (CAT), Bayesian methods, multilevel modeling, and meta-analysis. He currently serves as an associate editor of the International Journal of Testing and on the editorial boards of the Journal of Psychoeducational Assessment and Human Resource Development Quarterly.
