Biography —
Michael J. Orosco, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Kansas, where he directs the online graduate certificate program in Mind, Brain & Education. His interdisciplinary research focuses on developing theoretical models of learning development for Bilingual Children with and without learning disabilities, examining the social and cognitive mechanisms that influence mathematical and literacy performance. His work includes designing evidence-based interventions to enhance social and cognitive processes related to mathematical and literacy comprehension in Bilingual Children. Additionally, Dr. Orosco's research program emphasizes strengthening the sustainability of social and cognitive interventions through professional development initiatives.
Dr. Orosco's research has been funded by prestigious organizations including the U.S. Department of Education Institute of Education Sciences, the National Science Foundation, and the Office of Special Education & Rehabilitative Services. His work appears in leading peer-reviewed journals such as Exceptional Children, Journal of Educational Psychology, Journal of Learning Disabilities, Journal of Special Education, Learning Disability Quarterly, Learning and Individual Differences, and Teacher Education and Special Education. He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Learning Disabilities and Intervention in School and Clinic. Dr. Orosco is an elected member of the International Academy for Research in Learning Disabilities.
