Master's in Educational Psychology & Research, Sport & Exercise Psychology (SEP) subplan (coming soon – in approval process) Curriculum & Admission Requirements

Special note

The Sport & Exercise Psychology subplan, formerly housed in the Health, Sport, and Exercise Sciences Department, is moving to EPSY. In the interim, Sport & Exercise Psychology applicants should apply to the Educational Psychology and Research MSE program, Development & Learning (D&L) subplan and note your interest in the SEP subplan in your statement or an email to fritts@ku.edu. We anticipate the SEP program setup to be complete this academic year. When it is, your subplan will be updated in the system. The curriculum is available, and we are happy to consider you for admission. Please also note that while the EPR MSE D&L program deadline for summer or fall applications is January 6, we do have flexibility for the SEP application cycle. If you are looking into applying to this program after 1/6, please reach out to (fritts@ku.edu) to request an extended application deadline.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

Coursework

The academic coursework includes 36 credit hours and is designed to fulfill degree requirements.

Thesis

All students have the options of completing either a thesis or a capstone course. Each student must take a minimum of six master’s thesis credit hours. These credit hours allow students to focus on completing their thesis.

Graduate Admission

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from a regionally accredited institution or a foreign university with substantially equivalent bachelor’s degree requirements. International applicants are strongly encouraged to complete the application process well in advance of the application deadlines in order to ensure adequate time for processing of visa-related paperwork. Meeting minimum admission standards does not guarantee admission to the program.

Application Deadline

Jan. 6, 2025
Summer or fall terms only (spring admission not available).
See Special Note at the top of the page for deadline extension option.
